Scintex Heat Exchangers

Ideal for use in camping showers, heating vegetable oils and biodiesel for SVO and biofuel conversions. Can be used for cooling applications as well including cooling boat engines / motors. Suitable for a wide range of fluids and applications.

Extremely good heat transfer rates – Incorporates stainless steel plates which have high heat conductivity and a large heat transfer surface area. These heat exchangers can be used in co and counter-current heat exchange applications.

Scintex heat exchangers come with easy to use 1/2″ BSP female threaded inlets and outlets which will accept standard pipe fittings. If you require any hose or fittings for your application Scintex can supply this with your heat exchanger. The heat exchangers are also easy to mount with 2x M8 threaded bolts secured to the top plate. Simply use two u-brackets to secure the heat exchanger.

These heat exchangers are commonly used for:

• Biodiesel and Straight Vegetable Oil Conversions – Use your engines radiator fluid to raise the temperature of the vegetable oil prior to combustion. At 80oC, filtered vegetable oil has a similar viscosity to common diesel fuel making it ideal as an alternative fuel replacement in diesel engines.
• Portable Hot Water Camping Shower – Exchange heat with your radiator fluid to achieve a steaming hot shower while camping in remote locations.
• Beer chilling – Setup a small pump circuit which circulates chilled water through the exchanger instantly cooling your beer to icy cold temperatures.
• Boat engine heat exchangers

Which size heat exchanger do I require?

Camping showers – The 30 Plate is sufficient for camping showers. If you would like hotter water for washing dishes then the 60 Plate is better suited.

Boat outboard & other engine cooling applications – For any engine or outboard cooling applications Scintex recommends the use of a 60 Plate heat exchanger.

Onboard SVO / WVO fuel conversions – For on vehicle heating of vegetable oils or biodiesel the 10 Plate heat exchanger is sufficient.

Important heat exchanger information:

• Common heater hose in automobiles is 5/8″
• Use with our range of brass or stainless steel fittings and hosing
• When tested with our Bosh 1200LPH, 12 Volt pumps, Scintex recorded flow rates of approximately 26LPM thorugh the exchanger suggesting very little pressure drop through the exchanger.
• When tested with our 12 Volt Quiet Quad 17LPM pump, Scintex recorded flow rates of approximately 17LPM through the exchanger.
